België kan een voorbeeldfunctie hebben en vragen dat Saudi-Arabië en Marokko zich niet meer bemoeien met de theologie en de structuren van de moslims. Dat zou een mooi begin zijn. De kiemen van het moslimextremisme in Europa zitten niet in het feit dat er een gebrek is aan rationele en humanistische interpretaties van de islam, want die zijn er in overvloed. Het probleem zit, onder andere, in het feit dat conservatieve en obscure versies van de islam onder onze ogen worden gepromoot en ondersteund door bevriende staten. Terwijl rationele en hervormende ideeën bestreden worden omdat ze juist kritisch zijn voor machthebbers en hun lakeien overal.
