Vanmorgen in mijn mail:
TMG v5.10.000 is now available. With this release, all of the report formats (32 of them!) are now supported. We’ve also fixed the Optimize problem that was reported in the last newsletter. For good measure, we’ve thrown in a number of exciting new features as itemized below.
Ik ga niet op voorhand zeggen dat het too little, too late is voor ik er zelf mijn grubby little paws op heb vanavond, maar toch, als ik zo de lijst bekijk van nieuw en veranderd:
New Reports
o Pedigree Chart (now supports sources)
o List of Names
o List of Citations
Tja. Die “List of names” en “List of Citations” zijn belangrijker dan ze lijken, want dat zijn rapporten waarmee complexere zoekopdrachten mogelijk waren, en die ik eigenlijk het meest gebruikte voor het in batch wijzigen van flags en dergelijke. En om lijsten klaar te zetten voor andere rapporten.
Interface changes
o Menus and toolbars have a new, modern appearance
o Some menu items now reflect icons
…and about bloody time!
Nu nog dat hebbelijke vieze scalen van de hele interface afschaffen. En de windows-standaard volgen.
Book Manager
o This major new feature on the Reports menu allows you
to specify a series of reports that should be generated
in a specific order (e.g., the chapters of a book).
Mmmbof. Daar zie ik het punt niet van.
Place Information
o This new feature allows the researcher to automatically
search a variety of online gazetteers for information
about a specified place. The Tag Entry screen (for
events), Master Place List, Place Edit screen, and
Repository Definition screens each include a new button
to search for the selected place on the US Geographic
Names Information System (for U.S. places), GEONet Names
server, Gazetteer of Australia, Gazetteer of British
Place Names, and other sites.
Mja. Kan handig zijn, veronderstel ik, voor wie niet weet hoe het zelf te doen on-line. In ieder geval niet meteen van toepassing voor mensen in België zeker?
Place Mapping
o This new feature allows the researcher to automatically
search a variety of web sites to obtain detailed maps of
almost any place in the world. The Tag Entry screen (for
events), Master Place List, Place Edit screen, and
Repository Definition screens each include a new button to
produce a map for the selected place through Mapquest,
Maporama, Topozone, TerraServer, and other mapping sites.
Eum… Da’s hetzelfde dus: misschien handig voor wie het niet zelf kan.
Bon, en dan nog wat bugfixen.
