Elke maand, al jaren aan een stuk, krijg ik een mail van een kleine golfclub in Engeland, met het verslag van hun Committee Meeting.
Ooit heeft iemand een verkeerd emailadres ingevuld voor één van de mensen, en sindsdien komt dat bij mij terecht. Ze hebben in hun raad van bestuur enorm wijze functies — naast het normale President, Treasurer en Secretary ook nog Captain, Seniors Captain, Lady Captain en Pas Captain, en ze hebben allemaal zeer vreemde gebruiken en zeer specifieke problemen.

The Captain said he had complaints that permission to remove jackets at the Lady Captains Dinner had been given two early. After discussion it was determined that the correct protocol had been followed due to the extremely hot weather.

Nigel visited again with Bob and found main badgers sett (to the right of the 17th tee in the copse of trees) following an increase in badger damage 10- Darren and Bob ordered nuts to feed the badgers, this initially seemed to not be working following a lot of new damage to tees, namely 6th & 11th, but Brian confirmed the damage seems to have reduced now and they are taking the nuts. Brian has now ordered a lot more nuts and will continue to feed them until we find a long term solution. Bob to buy an industrial radio and position near sett to hopefully break their sleep patterns and force them to find a new home.

Hole 3: I want assurances that this area we be IN PLAY. My request for hard-care, top soil and turf has been ignored, but thank you to Ian for cutting down the trees for some light.

Ik ben er ondertussen helemaal emotioneel in geïnvesteerd: komt het in orde met de dassen? Gaat het aantal jonge leden blijven dalen of komt er een kentering dank zij alle goede suggesties? Hoe zit het met de uitbating van het clubhuis? Hoe gaat het circulatieprobleem van hole 15 opgelost raken — rechts van de boom of links van de green? En nu de familie die de eigenaars van de club zijn de hele club willen verkopen, hoe zal dat uitdraaien?
