Ik was naar beneden gestrompeld om wat yoghurt met fruit te eten en naast de diepvries zat dezen duts tegen de muur:
Ik had alleen mijn telefoon bij de hand dus geen goeie close-ups, maar ze zag er maar zielig uit.
Ik heb ze laten zitten, wat geen goed idee was wegens blijkbaar ben ik de enige persoon in huis die niet bang is van grote spinnen.
Een uur of zo later moest ik nog eens naar beneden strompelen om het beestje een hand te geven om onder de frigo te kruipen. Ik hoop dat het goed komt.

Ik had het eigenlijk al opgegeven, dat we de laatste loodjes in ons huis ooit zouden opgelost krijgen. Maar dan ineens out of the blue een tip gekregen van een aannemer die veel mensen kent die dingen doen, en ik ga die mens vandaag bellen om een afspraak te maken.
Eerst voor de kweetniethoeveelste keer een lijst maken van dingen die te doen zijn, min of meer in mijn volgorde van belangrijkheid:
- binnendeuren aan de living, de badkamer en onze slaapkamer
- binnendeuren aan de keuken (x2)
- nieuwe buitendeur
- schilderen en/of behangen: muren overal een beetje, hier en daar ook plafonds
- vloer op het tweede
- kasten in de slaapkamer en de gang en het wc
- zowat overal een beetje plinten
- hier en daar afdekplaten en schakelaars
Nóg iets spannends. ’t Kan niet op.
Update: afspraak volgende week zaterdag om het huis rond te lopen en te kijken wat er moet gedaan worden. Ik voeg alvast een item “draad voor witteregen tegen de muur vastmaken” toe.

Voilà zie, MRI achter de rug. Om zes uur opstaan, om 6u30 of zo aan de balie van de medische beeldvorming, om 6u45 ingeschreven, om 7u10 in de MRI-machine, dertig seconden later beseffen dat ik moet hoesten en dat ik niet mag hoesten, en dan 362 trage tellen later klaar en naar huis.
Het duurt een week voor er resultaten zijn, en dan zijn we al volgende week vrijdag en is de kniedokter maar beschikbaar volgende woensdag.

Ik heb mijn knie pijn gedaan, en dan heb ik mijn knie nog meer pijn gedaan en nu ben ik thuis tot zeker het eind van de maand. Niet dat het een enorm groot verschil is met anders wegens veel thuiswerk vroeger en nu eigenlijk ook gewoon werk doen voor het werk, maar toch.
Het zit in het hoofd: ik kan zonder schuldgevoel uitslapen, en overdag dingen doen die niet met het werk te maken hebben. En ik ben officieel niet aanwezig op het werk, dus ik moet ook geen tijdsregistratie doen hoera!
Ik zou altijd ziek willen zijn. Behalve dan dat ik graag het gebruik van mijn knie terug zou hebben, natuurlijk. En dat het handig zou zijn om zonder krukken rond te kunnen geraken. En dat het ook een gemak zou zijn als de reis van het eerste verdiep naar het gelijkvloers en terug geen kwartier zou duren.
Overmorgen MRI. En dan volgende week kijken wat de MRI gezegd heeft.
’t Is eigenlijk raar, dingen niet meer kunnen doen. Met het ouder worden (en met accidenten aan mijn rug en al), waren er alsmaar meer dingen die niet meer lukten, en als dat geleidelijk aan genoeg gebeurt, geraakt een mens daar gewoon aan — de kikker in de kookpot en zo.
Als het ineens is, dan is het moeilijker. Ik kijk naar een serie en ik zie mensen door de knieën gaan, ik vraag aan mijn zoon om rap eens naar beneden om iets te gaan, mijn dochter springt op de velo om iets te gaan halen in de winkel. Ik denk: dat kan ik niet meer. Misschien kan ik dat nooit meer.

Oh shit: AI works!
One night, while wrapping up a detailed ticket, a crazy thought hit me: “Hey, why not toss this whole ticket into ChatGPT and see what happens?”
And holy cow, it actually worked! The AI churned out the entire solution. Sure, there was a tiny hiccup – a small bug – but it was a breeze to fix.
I completed the entire task in just 30 minutes, including the time spent writing the ticket. By comparison, I estimate it would have taken Sam at least 4 hours, potentially up to 8 hours if the pull request required revisions. The efficiency gain was significant.
This was my “Oh shit, AI works” moment.
