Toch vreemd, een blijkbaar intelligente madam als Rachel Lucas die zo voor wapens is.

Rachel is a 30-year-old gun-totin’ capitalist oppressor who loathes Al Gore. And don’t mess with Texas, because that’s where Rachel lives with John, who’s also a gun-toter but loathes Hillary Clinton more than Al Gore.

…en ze meent het dus echt, geen greintje ironie te bespeuren.

This is what happens when you try to even out social inequality too quickly. I wrote a diatribe on the Venezuelan situation just a few days ago which I shall now recycle, just like the good greenie I am. Yay. Just make sure you check out the Freepers comments for some top-notch refined and purified amusing bullshiat, it’s worth it.

The people opposing the government are the oil companies, the army, and the rich. They are mostly white, and of course the poor are mostly black or indian. I liked the article that described the anti-chavez protestors wearing pearls and sipping champagne while ‘camped out’ on their demonstration.

The protestors were shot at last week, credible sources report the gunman was caught and admitted to being hired by an anti-government general. He used his own supporters lives to drum up more support for his cause. Dirty politics at its best.

So why don’t the opposition like him? Chavez is a filthy communist, that’s why the US government want him out and have supported both coups. When will this communism demon die for the US government.

“Chavez’s real crime was to pass two laws through Venezuela’s national assembly. The first ordered big plantation owners to turn over untilled land to the landless. The second nearly doubled, from roughly 16% to 30%, royalties paid for extracting Venezuela’s oil. Venezuela was once the largest exporter of oil to the USA, bigger than Saudi Arabia. This explains Chavez’s unpopularity – at least within that key constituency, the American petroleum industry. “

Anyway – there are reports that he’s arming the poorer citizens as we speak, they were the ones that voted him in and he hopes in the next coup they will be the ones that keep him in.

“Thursday, December 12, 2002 — Uruguayan EP-FA congressman Jose Bayardi says he has information that far-reaching plans have been put into operation by the CIA and other North American intelligence agencies to overthrow Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias within the next 72 hours.

Bayardi says he has received copies of top-secret communications between the Bush administration in Washington and the government of Uruguay requesting the latter’s cooperation to support white collar executives and trade union activists “to break down levels of intransigence within the Chavez Frias administration.”

now check out the pure unadulterated bullshiat the freepers have spewed on the matter, and notice almost _all_ the faces are white:

Confirmed US involvement in the first coup?

“What was indeed confirmed is that the airplane booked to take Chávez off Orchilla Island and out of the country belonged to Paraguayan banker Vænbsp;ctor Gil (TotalBank). And where was it headed? According to personnel of the airplane registered in the United States, the flight was headed to Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. “

“U.S. intervention was to be found not only in ?advice? from high government officials in Washington such as Roger Pardo-Maurer (in charge of special operations and low-intensity conflicts in Latin America for the Pentagon), Otto Reich, and/or John Maisto, but also from Lieut. Col. James Rodger, assigned to the Military Attaché Office of the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, who supported the revolt with his presence on the fifth floor of army headquarters, where he advised the generals in the rebellion. “

We meet an alien race that is smart enough to figure out how to resurrect the dead, but isn’t quite smart enough to figure out how to do it for more than one day. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard.

It’s ridiculous because you completely misunderstood it. They weren’t aliens. They were highly sophisticated mecha. Humans became extinct in the 2,000 year interval, but mecha survived and evolved by reproducing themselves. The “aliens” you see are the end result of 2,000 years of mecha evolution.

And they didn’t resurrect the dead. They initially told David that they would be unable to resurrect his mother because they lacked her DNA, but when Teddy presented the hairs, they had to improvise. “Give him what he wants,” said the narrator. They created, out of David’s memories, an image of his mother, and let him interact with her for one day. Why only one day? Because they wanted to give David a sense of peace before euthanizing him.

See, the key to understanding this movie is to know that the human characters were all selfish and cruel– intentionally or otherwise– and that the mecha characters were all innocent and pure. David, especially, had to be innocent; he was programmed to be. The uber-mecha were the culmination of this: they were supremely innocent, supremely kind, supremely compassionate. When they found this primitive mecha under the ice, they recognized him for what he was. They knew that he was capable of feeling, but not of learning or growing. So they did what the humans, in their arrogance, could not. They destroyed him.

Last shot – cyberboy frozen in the block of ice staring at the blue fairy. Credits. Much better ending.

Sorry, but I disagree. The existing ending is overwhelmingly powerful, if one understands it.
